Buy the Block Phase 2*

Phase 2 of Buy the Block (BtB2) includes the construction of 32 for-sale single family homes by the City of Rochester and its development partners GRHP and Flower City Habitat for Humanity. The map of all 32 lots shows the geographic spread of the project from the 19th Ward to Mayor’s Heights. The asterisk is because this post only looks at the first 3 model homes, all built by GRHP and their GC Atlas on Dr. Samuel McCree Way. All three are already sold, but applications for the remaining 29 homes can be found here. If there are open houses held for the homes Habitat is developing with their GC, USCeiling, there will be another RCW update on the project.

All twelve models in BtB2 are simplified traditional designs. The seven designs being used by GRHP were penned by local architect Randall Peacock. The homes feature a front porch and detached one-car garage and range from 1,033 to 1,729sf with a dizzying combination of bedroom, bathroom, and basement options. The three models featured here are the Hudson, the Woodward, and the Clifford, and all twelve floor plans can be found here.

The next 10 homes GRHP is building for BtB2 have all started pre-development work, with test pits having been dug on the remaining sites. These 10 homes should be completed by next summer. GRHP lists the final three addresses of their 16 total as TBD.
