50 Prince Apartments

Stern’s conversion of the former Red Cross offices at 50 Prince Street into 27 apartments is nearing completion with move-ins starting in early August. Of the 27 units, 26 are one bedrooms ranging from 589-1033sf. The remaining unit, a two bedroom, is 1469sf and has a large, private outdoor space.

The 50,000sf project was managed by LeFrois with architecture by Pardi Partnership Architects. The eastern portion of the building has been left commercial, while a 3,500sf space for a future commercial tenant has been added to the renovated western section. As part of the conversion, the building received a contemporary paint job, softening its original style. The eclectic windows have been kept, though, making for light filled apartments with unique views.

Like a number of recent buildings, the apartments are keyless. Additionally there will be a fitness room, a laundry room, and a lounge for residents. Heating, cooling, and wifi are included in rents, while other utilities are separately metered.

Having previously built the Carnegie and numerous projects at Village Gate before 50 Prince, Stern’s next venture will be converting 65 College Ave next door to an additional 20 one bedroom units.
